Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
